About Slow Food Huron Valley
We work to re-invigorate our local food system and preserve our food heritage. We build connections among all stakeholders (and eaters!) in our region with community-wide events like the Local Food Summit and the HomeGrown Festival. We organize special events (like Pie Lovers Unite! and potlucks) centered around the pleasure of enjoying food with friends and family. We build connections with local farmers and food artisans to help our community learn where their food come from (with our Great Lakes Heirloom Seed Trial, on farm tours, our book club, with panel discussions, film screenings and more). We advocate for healthy food access (with events like Time for Lunch and the $5 Challenge).
Get Involved!
We invite your help and participation! We need people to lead Slow Food initiatives, organize events and to contribute to our website. If you have photos of beautiful local foods and would like to share them here, let us know. If you have stories or reviews that you’d like to share, let us know! We want our website to help make connections between the wonderful producers in our food community and the people who want to support a “good, clean and fair” future for that food community.
